Olive: Why Is It The State Minister Mandating Vaccination Cards For Travellers?

State Minister for Transport Fred Byamukama yesterday emphasised that people above 18 years travelling without their vaccination cards will be fined at different checkpoints yet to be established countrywide.

This, according to the State Minister, is due to the economy being reopened at a time when the Omicron variant is spreading widely among citizens in the country hence calling for caution and responsibility.

Commenting on this, RX Radio Presenter Olive questioned the manoeuvre, saying, “Why is he the one telling us and not the President? Because if it was a national decree, we would understand why the State Minister is enforcing it.”

She added that not even the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health had issued such a directive, to which Co-host Fatboy added that it would only increase the demand for fake vaccination cards.

“We've talked about this before: what does it mean to be vaccinated? With a double dose of any vaccine essentially you have to take a booster shot otherwise you're in principle unvaccinated,” he commented.

The Presenter went on to add, “And with the efficacy of the vaccines being 6 months, does it still make one’s vaccination card valid after this time period expires?” This was after Olive questioned whether the vaccination cards to be presented are for the first, second or for the third shots of the vaccine.

The two Presenters decried the mandates that are now taking action globally yet in some countries where there aren't any, the cases and death rates remain relatively low.

Fatboy, exemplifying Florida, said that despite having no vaccination mandates, the state with its elderly population continues to register low numbers of Covid-19 fatalities.

“States like New York continue to register spikes in cases despite the various mandates being implemented because of the cold weather and unhealthy eating lifestyles,” Olive said.

According to Fatboy, despite the impact of obesity on Covid-19 hospitalisations, a number of bureaucrats won't encourage healthy dieting, because it's not convenient for them who want to make money from lockdowns and vaccines. “Yet when you look at the data of those dying from the virus, it's mostly the overweight eldery people,” he concluded.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy, Olive, Sarah and Lesham every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
