Lesham: The DC Franchise Seems To Have Found Their Niche In Crude Humour

As we head towards the weekend, Lesham recommended RX Radio listeners to watch the new ‘Peacemaker’ series, an action comedy fresh from the DC Comics universe, and the first television series from the extended original movie franchise.

The series, created by James Gunn, is a spin off to Suicide Squad based on the DC Comics character Peacemaker played by Christopher Smith aka John Cena.

Premiered on January 13th 2022 with three episodes, the series shows the Peacemaker recruited by an ARGUS black ops squad headed by Clemson Murn for a “Project Butterfly” mission to hunt down parasitic butterfly-like beings.

Lesham, noting how for a long time now DC has been a no match for Marvel movies, said the franchise might have made a comeback with an adult-rated version of superhero movies.

“What I've been excited about and how they might have found their footing is that DC is just super vulgar. It's like the x-rated version of Marvel because in this series, they straight up showed someone’s boobs multiple times and I was shocked. You can never see this in Marvel or Iron Man.”

“I guess they might have found their niche and I'll watch both Marvel and DC now. Marvel for the action and DC for the corky crude humor,” she said.

However, James Onen the Co-host of The Fatboy Show said that the shift might attract an audience only for a short time. “If you just want to be edgy for attention, I don't know if that will work out as intended, it might get some people talking but will it reach a broad audience? Because parents will now be too shy to show it to their kids,” he thought.

However, Lesham argued that unlike Marvel films, parents will also have movies of the same genre that appeal mainly to adults, without having to watch with their kids.

“I’d recommend everyone to watch it to see the difference between the two versions. It's not entirely copious, the scenes are just appropriately placed. But for me, it was just that they were able to include a level of jokes we could have never gotten from Marvel,” she urged.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy, Olive, Sarah and Lesham every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
