Fatboy: It Takes A Few Religious Fanatics To Disrepute A Whole Religion

RX Radio’s Fatboy has expressed disappointment saying that it's unfair to frame a whole religion in regards to the recent terrorist attacks in the country.

During the Fatboy Show, he reasoned that as many rush to blame such attacks on the Islamic religion, most victims who succumb to the attacks such as the recent ones are mostly muslims.

“Among the deceased is Ismail Basibe whose name suggests that he is affiliated to the muslim religion which is tragic because even though he had nothing to do with this, he lost his life. This is why I'm saying that some people will be quick to condemn the religious group in entirety yet we are seeing that the victims of Islamic terrorist attacks not just in Uganda but the world over are muslims.”

He added, “Unfortunately with religion, there will always be moderates and extremists who claim to act on behalf of religion and all it takes is a few fanatics to inflict enough carnage that will tarnish the name of the wider community.”

Olive in addition said that security agencies will sometimes present suspects held in accordance to terrorist attacks as Christians who converted to Islam. “It makes it unfortunate for the moderate muslims that even when a bomb goes off in close radius to them, they will be suspects.”

In a press conference on Wednesday, religious leaders under the Inter Religious Council of Uganda tasked security forces to strengthen their fight against terrorism. Sheikh Mufti Mubajje, the Grand Mufti said that Islam must be distanced from terrorism acts because it is a divine calling that promotes peace and is one meant to people help people rather than hurt them.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy, Olive, Sarah and Lesham every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
