RX Radio presenter James Onen aka Fatboy has noted that terrorists are interested in changing people’s lifestyles which they seem to have succeeded at.
He made the remarks following Makerere University Business School ban on bags, and backpacks at the campus which have been termed as serious security threats at the institution, given that the suicide bombers who blew up parts of Kampala on Tuesday were carrying the same.
“I hate this because it's what terrorists want us to do and I worry that we are kind of surrendering when we do this. Maybe instead of bags being banned, why not let all of them be checked at entry points because we are used to doing this at almost all public places, because this must be a great inconvenience to students” he said.
Olive, another Co-host on the show added “And it wont yield so many results given that you never know where the terrorists are going to hit.” She also opined that in instances like these, security agencies are too left puzzled and will provide any solutions that they can think of at the moment but not because they are to be permanent.
According to a circular issued on Tuesday hours after the bomb blasts, the Officer in Charge of MUBS Police Station noted that the institution is a public one accessed by different people with different intentions.
“Considering the current terrorism threat in the country, security is making all effort to protect everyone both within and outside the University,” the circular partly read.
The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy, Olive, Sarah and Lesham every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
