National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters have been asked to look beyond party affiliations and be able to hold government accountable on national issues.
Olive Najjuma, a radio presenter with RX Radio noted that regardless of which party one supports, a true Ugandan would be concerned about the way government agencies are handling issues especially on human rights.
“Giving an example of the missing citizens, at first, government said they did not know anything about them, now, the Minister for Internal Affair said 48 cases were reported and that only 13 of the missing persons are under investigation. All these inconsistences should tell you there I something wrong with our security agencies,” Olive said on Monday’s The Fatboy Show.
She added; “We are all Ugandans and we all love and have a right to this country, even as an NRM supporter, you should compel the government to give accountability for its actions.”
Her co-host, James Onen a.k.a Fatboy noted that most NRM supporters know what wrongs that government is doing but they decide to ignore the mistakes because they understand that politics is no angels’ game.
“It’s like making a pact with the devil. You understand that the NRM government makes some mistakes but there is no perfect government or a perfect person. So, as long as the mistakes are not like too alarming, most supporters will just ignore and move on with their lives and we cannot blame them for that,” Fatboy said.
