RX Radio Presenter Olive Najjuma has said that President Yoweri Museveni’s refusal to take the available Covid-19 vaccine leaves a lot of unanswered questions for the citizens that take look upto him and trust his judgement as a leader.
Uganda last week received over 864,000 does of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine that are currently used to vaccine front line workers, the elderly before embarking on other groups. In a national address that aired on Sunday, President Museveni said he would not take the vaccine yet as he is waiting to decide which is the best vaccine to take. The president also threatened to sue Daily Monitor for alleging that he and some members of his family had already taken the vaccine.
Olive, while on Tuesday’s The Fat Boy Show noted that either the president had already taken the vaccine as alleged by the Wall Street Journal or he was not very positive about the available vaccines. She added that if indeed the president wasn’t vaccinated as alleged by the media, his refusal to take the vaccines government procured for Ugandans leaves a lot to be desired.
“Does this mean he wants to use Ugandans as guinea pigs? He has been preaching that once we get vaccinated, our lives will be get to normal so it was very surprising for him to not take the vaccine. Doesn’t he want his life to get back to normal too?’’ Olive questioned.
Her co-host James Onen aka Fatboy noted that the president had pushed himself in a ditch by refusing to take the vaccine in the first place because the world would now be waiting to see when he will take it.
“The situation will even be complicated if he indeed had already taken the vaccine because now it will be like double vaccination. This is also discouraging especially for the Covid-19 holics that have been obsessing about the need to follow Covid-19 SOPs to the latter,” Fatboy said.
