In a discussion about dating and relationships today on RX radio, The Fatboy Show presenters Olive Najjuma and James Onen explored the question of what the maximum age gap should be between lovers.
Olive advised young women to date men 15 years older than they are because dating older men increases the chances of it becoming a father-child relationship.
“If a girl is 25, I wouldn't advise her to marry a guy that is 30 years older, that is pretty much her father and there’s a risk of this man treating you as his child rather than as his wife. In my opinion, a girl of 25 should date a man that is like 7-10 years older than her, at most 15,” she advised.
James, commonly known as Fatboy explained that because women and men have mismatched sexual drives, older women should date younger men and vice-versa because these have an equally higher sexual drive than their agemates.
According to Fatboy, men in their 20s will have a higher sexual drive than their female counterparts while women will have a higher drive in their mid 30’s to 40 the same age where the drive for older men will be diminishing.
“If a woman is 35 or 40, they should date a man who is like 25 because, with the kind of sexual demands a woman of 34, 35, 36 has, I think they can’t be easily met by a man of similar age or 7 years older because at that age a man’s sexual drive will be diminishing,” he said.
Olive similarly reasoned that men’s drives decrease at a later age not because they have matured but because of the priorities in their life such as business and self-reflection, whereas women in their 30’s and 40's are done having children and are embarking on a journey of bodily discovery.
“When most women are in their 20s, all they do is try to please the guy in the bedroom. But in her mid 30’s because she is more aware, it's no longer about the man, she will be selfish to get herself some…”
However, she opined that women her age should get themselves men 10-20 years older than them because they are already established financially and even have more liquid cash to spend on her than a younger man.
