Gideon on RX Radio: NUP supporters’ social media anger is justified

A National Unity Party (NUP) supporter has said there is a justification for the way some of the party’s supporters are reacting especially on social media because of the way government has been treating them.

Gideon Amodingi, a strong supporter of NUP while appearing for a political debate with a National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporter said that although he does not agree with the aggressive and abusive nature of some of their supporters, it is understandable that some Ugandans are very angry and frustrated because they have been put in a fix by the same government that is supposed to protect and support them.

“When you go to the ghettos and see how young people are suffering and have been rendered hopeless, you understand why they are angry. The current Government has made it impossible for citizens to hold it accountable either through the courts of laws or even elections. It is frustrating to know that there is nothing you can do to demand for fairness from your own leaders,” Gideon said.

He added that NRM government has failed to steer the country in the right direction and has left most citizens economically, socially and politically frustrated.

Roger Gorazo, the NRM supporter noted that the fact that the NUP officials and supporters cannot find a more reasonable way to address their grievances other than expressing anger and abusing whoever disagrees with them shows that they are not legible to take up state power or even steer the country in the right direction.

“I believe that we should be able to give our leaders a lot of chances to make right whatever they have done wrong and if they can’t, then you can elect them out of office. However, do not send in a worse candidate that will make it even worse,” he said.

The RX Radio political debates between NUP and NRM supporters are moderated by James Onen a.k.a Fatboy during The Fatboy Show. According to Fatboy, the debates are aimed at giving a platform for different political supporters to exchange views and ideas instead of the usual social media fights and insults that have been going on between the supporters of the two parties.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen a.k.a. Fatboy and Olive Najjuma every weekday from 6.00am to 10.00am on RX Radio.
