Fatboy: Will The Government Ban Twitter After the Suspension Of Muhoozi’s Supporters' Accounts?

Yesterday morning, a number of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba‘s supporters woke up in shock after realizing that their Twitter accounts got suspended in the crackdown which occurred on Monday night.

Although the reason for their suspension is still unknown, some have attributed the action to the violation of Twitter rules of engagement.

According to Twitter, an account may be suspended when it is deemed fake, spammy, or handled by a bot.

Last year when similar social media accounts belonging to supporters of President Museveni got banned by Facebook, the President reacted by banning Facebook in the country.

Wondering whether history wouldn’t repeat itself, the RX Radio presenter James Onen who is commonly known as Fatboy wondered if Twitter shall face the same fate as Facebook.

“Shall government also make it hard for us to access Twitter because of the crackdowns on Muhoozi’s supporters!” Fatboy wondered.

Olive Najjuma, the other presenter in the conversation asked Fatboy, “If it is to be banned, “where is General Muhoozi going to write because that’s his favourite platform?”

Fatboy doubted that the first son manages his Twitter considering the nature and expressions of most of the tweets.

“I don’t know because if you look at him, he’s very subdued and not as talkative as he is on his Twitter. I know it's ironic because people have said the same about me, perhaps the same thing applies to him. Maybe in real life, he’s a quiet person and only unleashes that side of him as he types,” he said.

However, in regards to the suspension, the presenters are waiting for what is to follow.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy, Olive, and Sarah every weekday from 6 am to 10 am on RX Radio.
