Fatboy to Motorists: Try To Solve Scuffles With Bodaboda Cyclists Amicably

The Fatboy Show Presenter James Onen aka Fatboy has advised motorcyclists to solve scuffles related to boda boda riders in an amicable manner because of uncertain consequences that may arise.

During the show, Fatboy was commenting on the Inspector General Of Police, Okoth Ochola’s directives to traffic officers, to carry out an “aggressive” crackdown on undisciplined boda boda riders within the country following the lynch of a former United Nations driver by boda boda cyclists.

It is alleged that Aziz Bashir, a 40-year-old former United Nations driver got involved in a minor accident with a boda boda rider who had brushed against his car. As compensation, Aziz asked for Shs.500,000 but was instead offered Shs.50,000 by the rider who then rode off when they failed to come to terms.

Bashir, in his pursuit for him, got blocked by other boda boda riders, knocking two and dragging one on the tarmac for almost a kilometer. This made an angry mob of riders chase after Bashir surrounding and pulling him out of the vehicle, and thereafter stoning him to death while vandalising his car.

“I can understand that with so much going on, it is easy for anyone to snap and break down at the slightest of issues. But as you drive on the road try to be as careful as you can and in case of a dispute with a boda boda cyclist, try to solve it as amicably as possible because what you don’t want is a crowd of them surrounding you.”

Olive, who described the society as a stressed one, said that people should try to tame their tempers to avoid situations such as these. Furthermore, she encouraged listeners to spend more time with their loved ones, and to engage in activities that give them peace of mind.

Jokingly, Fatboy asked ladies to provide tender loving care to their men, because the lack of it may cause their husbands to overreact in trivial situations.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy and Olive Najjuma every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
