Fatboy: The End Of The World Could As Well Come From Science

RX Radio Presenter Fatboy has argued that the end of this world could be propped by science just like its future.

He mentioned this during the morning show as the two hosts- Fatboy and Olive commented on the President’s remarks he made recently about science. According to President Museveni, there will be prioritization of increased payments of scientists and people in the sector, claiming that the country’s future lies in innovation and technology.

Commenting on the issue Olive said, “Scientists should be excited about the President’s pledge though there’s a catch. Normally, the President makes such promises but after a year or two or even five, you hear the same people crying out for help and for the President to fulfil his promises.”

However, she recognises that the promise would be a good thing if fulfilled given that the future of the world lies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Fatboy, skeptical about the certainty of science and technology, said that though the sector has been used to make positive innovations, it can as well be used to promote evil deeds.

“If you are to look at Covid-19, it seems to be a work of science that saw the creation of the virus in a Wuhan Lab under US facilitation. It's not that I am discounting science because I genuinely appreciate all the tremendous works of scientists created such as our beloved studio, phones, cars, medicines and food production but my concern is that there can be a dark side to using technology to promote evil which it often has.”

However, he acknowledged the positive innovations that scientists in Uganda have created such as Covidex created by Professor Ogwang which has become a common household item being consumed in Uganda and beyond to treat Covid-19.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy, Olive, Sarah and Lesham every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
