Fatboy: People Seemed To Have Moved On From The Russia- Ukrainian War

A week after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for joking about his wife’s alopecia at the Academy Awards Ceremony, the attention seems to have flushed away the Russia-Ukraine war according to James Onen aka Fatboy.

During the Fatboy Show on RX Radio, Fatboy said that when conflicts such as war overstay in the public space, they become monotonous, making people move on.

“People have a particular limited attention span for how much they can take on an issue before they get bored and I feel like we've reached that point with Ukraine- Russia,” he said.

His co-host Daniel Omara said that the nature of war being depressing, people lose interest and when it gets reported on in the news severally, it becomes normal.

According to Fatboy, the public is to blame for escalating the war in Ukraine for cheering on the nation to fight a war that it can't win.

“It's our fault that the war has extended this long because we kept telling Ukraine, keep fighting, we'll send you everything, artillery and money to keep fighting. At the end of the day when Russia is announced the winner, which I think is inevitable, what will Ukrainians have to show for their resistance?” he queried.

The duo claimed that if Voldoyrmr Zelenskyy cared about the wellbeing of his country, he would have surrendered as the best way to protect his people and the destruction could be avoided.

“Surrendering wouldn't have been the worst option, if anything, it would have just resolved the situation quicker. But because of egos and stuff, Zelenskyy chose to carry it on. And I've noticed a very interesting pattern with humanity lately where everyone is increasingly concerned about their mental health and conserving their energy for things that matter to them individually such as worrying about your next meal more than what happens in Europe,” Daniel added.

He further said that although his opinion may sound selfish, many such wars have happened in Africa and in Asia and the world alloted little attention or support to those suffering.

Information from Reuters shows that the war in Ukraine has so far left 24,000 dead, 10 million people displaced and property worth 565 billion dollars destroyed.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy, Olive and Sarah every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
