Fatboy: Do not put much focus on love

RX Radio Presenter James Onen a.k.a Fatboy has advised Ugandans that are in love relationships to have a life outside these relationships to avoid heavy heartbreaks that sometimes result into homicides and suicides.

His advice follows a number of incidents that happened recently in different parts of Uganda where lovers killed their partners over misunderstandings. One radio sports presenter known Allan Mandela of Hunter Radio in Rwentuha Town Council, Igara East, Bushenyi District was last week murdered by a girlfriend while another man was also yesterday murdered by the wife in Kiryatete cell Hoima West Division Hoima City over a Valentine’s misunderstanding.

“We are seeing increased cases of domestic violence which is worrying. My easy but unacceptable solution would be for people to not get married. However, if you are in a relationship, please do not focus all your life on love or the person you love, have a life outside that relationship so that in case the relationship ends, you are not so broken that you end up harming yourself or the other person," Fatboy said on Wednesday The Fatboy show.

His co-host, Olive Najjuma also advised young lovers to be rational as they make decisions to avoid mistakes that may cost them their lives or freedom.

"I am told the lady murdered the boyfriend because he infected her with HIV, even if that were true, how does killing the boyfriend help her situation?" she asked.

Olive also noted that some of these cases show that different people are dealing with mental health issues they may not be aware of, adding that for many, it takes just one incident for them to snap and lash out in ways that may be fatal!

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy and Oliver Najjuma every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
