Fatboy: Democracy and politics are overrated

As the 2021 general elections come to a conclusion, the government has been criticized for the manner in which the elections were conducted as it was mulled with irregularities, vote rigging allegations, persecution of opponents among others.

However, some Ugandans believe that it’s almost impossible for governments to ensure that there is total democracy where there’s a completely free and fair election.

According to James Onen aka Fatboy, the host of the Fatboy show on RX Radio, it is almost impossible for any country to hold a truly free and fair election and hence true democracy is almost a myth that cannot be achieved.

“Even in the most developed countries like America, you hear Presidential Candidates like Donald Trump allege that there was voting rigging in the November 3rd elections. In Uganda, we have never had an election, even at local levels where all parties agreed that it was a fair election,” he said during Wednesday’s Fatboy show.

Fatboy added, “In my opinion, politics and democracy are overrated. It is not worth the time we invest in it. I hope Ugandans can realize this sooner and move on with their lives. Don’t waste your time and efforts fighting for something that is almost unachievable.”

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy and Oliver Najjuma every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
