“Enanga’s claims of Sponsored Masaka Killings are Stupid”- Stella Nyanzi

Renowned Human Rights Activist and Anthropologist Dr.Stella Nyanzi has trashed police claims alleging that machete thugs recently claiming lives of people in the greater Masaka area are being sponsored saying they are merely bogus and irrational.

This she said on Rx radio’s Fatboy show where she explained that it would be extremely illogical for a sponsored operation to use Pangas and target the poorest in society.

“ Enanga’s sentiments are outrageous and this is the most ridiculous thing he has ever said . If indeed there were people sponsoring this, why would they use Pangas instead of artillery such as pistols or machine guns? Why would they break into mud thatched houses and kill poor People and not raid places with rich people?” Dr. Nyanzi questioned. She further underscored that the government which is supposed to offer security to people has failed together with its security agencies.

While commenting on the curfew that has been in place for more than a year now, Dr.Nyanzi noted that it was created with a logic of curbing the spread of the virus at night but there hasn't been any evidence to show how it limits virus transmission. Instead, she said it is the military reaping hugely from the monetisation of the curfew, starting from patrol cars, Local Defense Unit Personnel (LDUs) all the way to the specialised commandos.

“The government is for the people and by the people, if we are demanding security from the government we have a responsibility to collectively table our issues and as residents be allowed to participate and speak through our representatives and for the security agencies to do what is expected of them instead of criminalizing opposition.” she argued.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy and Olive Najjuma every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
