Daniel Omara: Uganda’s Anti-porn Committee Seems Biased

Daniel Omara, the Hear Me Out show host, blamed Uganda's Anti-pornography committee for being selective about culprits they choose to parade and get arrested.

With reference to the new trend of leaked nudes going viral on social media, Daniel commented that both society and the anti-pornography committee only rebuke nudes if people involved are physically less appealing.

“There is a societal bias against certain images of pornography. We do not want nudes of aesthetically displeasing people but those of a certain body type. There are standards to the quality of delivery and I think this is the reason the anti-porn committee is biased. They judge porn based on how the people in it look,” Daniel said.

Daniel gave a case point of a one Selina, a lady seemingly in her early twenties whose nudes were vastly shared on social media but received no criticism as many praised her beauty and body shape.

Unlike Selina, Daniel reminisced about the events that happened to Panadol Wa Basajja, an upcoming artist who was arrested for her twerking music video in 2016 that was posted on Youtube.

“I have realized that prettier women are not arrested for pornography. Not because Father Lokodo is dead, but for the video qualities they release as opposed to the fact that the videos are indecent.” Daniel explained.

He went on, “Looking back, I celebrated when Panadol Wa Basajja was arrested for the nasty video she released while twerking in dirty water. She did so when there was an Anti-pornography Committee, but, I realized that prettier women are left free. If she had worn a G-string and twerked in a bathtub with clean water, perhaps she would not have been judged harshly.”

He mentioned some people who escaped arrest for the release of nudes such as Desire Luzinda, and Martha Kay among others. Daniel thereby advised those who capture anything deemed pornographic to do so with a high video resolution because they might be spared by the committee and arrest.

Hear Me Out is hosted by Daniel Omara every Saturday from 10am to Midday on RX Radio.
