RX Radio Presenter James Onen aka Fatboy has said he is amused by the naivety of some of the National Unity Party (NUP) and former Presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine’s supporters who believe there would be instant change if Bobi Wine became president.
Fatboy, while on Wednesday’s The Fatboy Show noted that if Bobi Wine ever become President, he would have to do favours for people in his government to strengthen their loyalty to him which will end up being more of the same as the current government or even worse.
“That’s why I am amused at Bobi Wine supporters who believe that if he came to power, their problems will come to an end. As a young president without any strong political allies, Bobi Wine would need to buy out a lot of people with favours to earn their loyalty if he was to stay in power for even a year. Otherwise, his government would be faced with so much opposition from within,” Fatboy said.
He added; “Even the way government is set right now, if Bobi Wine had become like president, he would have to have the over 300 NRM MPs and other government officials who are already in control of most of the finances and pull all the strings to be able to implement any of his policies. If he is to succeed at that, he will have to work with them by buying some of them to his side,’’
His co-host Olive Najjuma said that although having a new president would make no big difference right way, it is okay for Ugandans and Bobi Wine supporters to demand for a fresh mind in the presidency.
“Let Ugandans have that experience. We just want to see how things would be under a different government, it might not be guaranteed that the change would be positive but we just want to see it,” Olive said.
