Fatboy has claimed that the Dubai 2020 Expo might not have entirely been about appearances of products showcased at the Ugandan pavilion that many Ugandans, including the presenters scorned and laughed at.
The RX Presenter made the comments after revelations by the Uganda Investment Authority Director General Robert Mukiza, indicating that investment deals worth $300million were negotiated and await signing. The Director General additionally said that by the end of the Expo, the country will be bagging 4 billion dollars which in turn will create jobs for thousands of Ugandans.
According to Fatboy, credit in this case should be given to the outputs rather than focusing on the display of products at the Expo. “Sometimes, people like falling for appearances yet they are deceiving. For instance, that high tech showcased at the Rwandan pavilion, you might find out that Uganda’s end results were way better!” he said.
However Olive, the show’s Co-host wholeheartedly disagreed saying that the investment deals haven’t been signed yet and insisted that the Pavilion’s appearance wasn’t at all attractive.
“One video held at the exhibition by one of our Members of Parliament showed that our pavilion was even empty and visitors were showing themselves around which makes me question where our Ugx 3 billion was directed! Many Ugandans have accepted mediocrity but a few of us will remain critical till we see results.” said Olive.
The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy and Olive Najjuma every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
