A section of Ugandans is confused by the lifestyle of Dr. Kiiza Besigye's son Anslem Besigye because of his styled dreadlocks and choice of clothes that often leave some questioning his sexuality.
Describing a picture of Anslem dressed in a tank top and shorts that made rounds on social media yesterday, James Onen, The Fatboy Show presenter on RX Radio, supposed that Anslem is gender fluid.
“He didn't look like some Jamaican musician, he looked like a chic. It is quite interesting, and I’m thinking it won’t be long before he transitions. I'm almost certain that he is considering himself gender fluid,” Fatboy asserted.
Fatboy then asked his co-host Olive Najjuma what she thought the reception of Anslem in Uganda would be if he resided in the country. And whether his character poses an issue of concern for figures against his father, Dr. Kiiza Besigye, about his parenting skills.
Olive opined that Anslem’s parents might be intentional about him living outside Uganda for the longest time. “Even while at home we don’t get to know that he is home,” she said
According to Olive, keeping Anslem’s life private could be a sign that he is less interested in the profession his father took or being protected against homophobia since Uganda is a culturally heterosexual society.
Fatboy wondered why no journalist has volunteered to question Dr. Besigye about his son’s lifestyle and sexuality.
Referring to Dr. Besigye’s status, Olive supposed that no journalist would ask the opposition figure about his son’s sexuality.
“And honestly, I think that whatever his son is, is his business. Besigye is a politician, neither is the son. So making him talk about his son’s sexuality to me is exceeding the boundaries. Besides, whatever choices his son makes, do not affect the prices of fuel,” Olive said.
The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy, Olive, and Sarah every weekday from 6 am to 10 am on RX Radio.
